I ran across Renee's weight loss blog while surfing and
was blown away by it. Renee's site is so well run and so
full of great weight loss information. But more than that it
shows Renee's journey. Her Journey is honest, well
documented and successful. Renee experiences the same weight
loss struggles as everyone: Depression, lack of motivation,
and bad eating days. Read how Renee keeps her eye on the
weight loss prize. Here is Renee's story:
In January of this year I set out to lose weight once
again. I've spent the last 2 years attempting to lose weight
at various times.
I never quite gave up, but I'd lose focus for a few weeks
and then try again. I can't say what made this year
different, but I had a strong urge to be fit and healthy. I
drafted a 6 month long program, broken apart into 3-4
segments of 6-8 week challenges. Each challenge had a
specific purpose, learn to run, try yoga, build muscle. They
also build on the last so that I can keep challenging
myself.
I get bored easily. It hasn't been all peachy, I've had
down days, blown off workouts, mindless eating and the like.
I've been stressed, gotten depressed on various life issues
and through it all, I try to keep my eye on the prize.
Emotionally it can be trying since I've lost 13 or so pounds
since the year began. According to the 1-2lb per week guide,
I "should" have lost twice that. But as I keep going, it's
becoming less about what the scale says and more about how I
feel and what I
can do. I can now run about 9 miles a week. When the year
first started I could barely run 60 seconds straight. I have
muscles, sure they are still covered in layers of fat, but I
can feel them. And overall I feel good. Even if I only lose
13 more pounds by year end, I will have still ended the year
26 pounds less than when it began, which is more than enough
in my book.
