Find a weight loss partner and reach your diet goals faster.

Can a weight loss partner help you lose weight? Groups such as ediets.com and weight watchers are very powerful in that they teach you a healthy lifestyle for reaching your weight loss goals; but they also provide something else for you: Camaraderie and accountability.

I am an advocate of healthy weight loss and I recommend programs such as ediets and weight watchers because of the support group and healthy lifestyle they provide.  Ediets and weight watchers both have wonderful online options to help you reach your weight loss goals.

If you want to start a weight loss support group on your own…read on for tips and ideas!

I have been going to the gym and working out for over 25 years now. There have been times when I have had a work out partner and times when I have not. Sometimes when I did not have a work out partner and I did not feel like going to the gym, I did not go…but when I had a workout partner and did not feel like going…I still went! Someone was counting on me to be there. There was accountability!

How can this philosophy help you lose weight?

bulletStart a walking club. Invite as many members as you can. Keep track of attendance and celebrate perfect attendance. Encourage and support each other.
bulletKeep a food journal and review them with your partner(s). Encourage and support. You are not there to impose guilt but only to support and encourage.
bulletJoin a gym with a partner. Make it a fun time. Work out but enjoy your time together.
bulletStart a weight loss book club. Share books on weight loss and have discussions on what you liked and did not like about them.
bulletHave weight loss discussion groups. Remember: Encourage and support.
bulletJoin a local club. I joined a local mountain bike club and have found the members to be very supportive and friendly.
bulletShare weight loss recipes.

What does group support and accountability offer you?

bulletWhen you are down and lacking motivation you know someone is depending on you for that workout, walk, or discussion of your food journal.
bulletWhen feeling week and wanting a super-sized fast food meal you have someone to call.
bulletWhen you have reached a weigh loss milestone you have someone to celebrate with.
bulletYou can help others while you reach your weight loss goals.

How can you find people for your weight loss support group?

bulletJoin an online or offline weight loss support group such as ediets or weight watchers.
bulletAsk friends, neighbors, or anyone you may have shared weight loss discussions with.
bulletAdvertise in a local paper.
bulletCo-workers. (Start a lunchtime walking club!)

The benefits of a weight loss support group are many. Your group can consist of you and one other person or it can be a large diverse group. Being a part of a larger diverse group exposes you to different weight loss recipes, exercises, and techniques. I have always believed in taking advantage of all resources available…as long as they are consistent with a healthy lifestyle. Some of the things your group may expose you to that you may other wise never heard of are: weight loss supplements that really help and are not hype, varied weight loss recipes, different exercise techniques, diet books and much more.

I wish for you to reach your weight loss goals and live a happy-healthy lifestyle. A partner or partners can help you achieve! Good luck.
