Bill – Lynn, what do you think is the biggest
obstacle to overcome for someone trying to reach their ideal
weight?
Lynn – Sticking with it. Without a doubt sticking
with a program is the hardest part of losing fat and keeping
it off. The way to overcome this obstacle is through a bit
of planning, a touch of fat loss education, a kick-butt
fitness program, a smart menu, and results.
Seeing healthy and positive results
yields excellent motivation.
Bill – How did you get started
as a personal trainer?
Lynn – A good friend of mine was
opening her own fitness center. She was having a tough time
finding quality employees to work for her. She asked me to
become the fitness center manager. I had NO experience in
the fitness industry at that time. I only had an extensive
background in sports.
Despite that, I decided to take the
management position. After hiring trainers and watching the
interactions between trainer and client, it became
increasingly clear to me that I had a passion to provide
guidance and focus to those people who were serious about
their life.
I became certified and started my
training career. I was surprised to see how many trainers
lacked motivation and pizzazz. I used that to my
advantage. I became the best trainer I could be through
providing life-changing results to all of my clients. Word
got out and within a short time my training business
exploded. It’s all about delivering results and teaching
people how to feel great and in charge of their lives.

Bill – Lynn, I think that many
women who are trying to lose weight are reluctant to lift
weights for fear of becoming muscle bound. Can you help
dispel that myth for our readers?
Lynn – Absolutey- it is NOT
true! Myth busted! Seriously though, women cannot get big
and bulky like some guys do. One of the most important
reasons is that women do not have enough testosterone to
build large muscles. Men have plenty of testosterone and
therefore can build larger muscles.
Now some women, like professional
bodybuilders, have very cut and defined bodies. These women
center their life around bodybuilding. They eat a strict
diet, they train hard (very hard!), they have a team of
coaches, nutritionists and trainers.
For most women looking to “tone up” and
get fit, lifting a 10, 20, 30 pound weight is not going to
result in big, bulky muscles. It just is not that easy to
build muscle. I’ll go as far as to say that lifting a 3 or 5
pound weight is not going to do much for most women.
Lifting heavy (once you are warmed up
and used to the movement) is typically the key to amazing
results.
Bill – Can anyone follow your

Lynn – It is designed and

Bill – What are some things a

you have any weight loss industry peeves?
Lynn – That’s also one of my pet
peeves. Those photos are air brushed, and the small type at
the bottom of the ad reads “Results Are Not Typical.”
Perhaps one of my biggest pet peeves is
the way women are expected to wear a size 4 and look
“perfect” at all times. The reality is that is NOT
reality. It’s so sad how many companies are getting rich
off of the cash of female insecurities.
Women are bombarded with images of
tall, skinny, flawless faces day in and day out. We spend
our entire lives chasing an image that is not healthy. I’d
love the advertising, fashion, cosmetic and fitness industry
to start focusing on real women with real lives.
My goal is to talk incessantly about
this issue. A beautiful woman is one who is secure,
powerful, and happy. Happy inside. No diet pill will
provide that. No miracle diet will provide that. A clean
bill of health and a feeling of focus and pride WILL create
happiness.
