Vinegar for a diet aid?

Using vinegar for a diet aid has been a practice that has survived for quite a bit of time now.

Some claim that vinegar for a diet aid reduces appetite, flushes fat, or slows down the digestive process leaving you feeling fuller longer.

Some suggest taking several teaspoons of apple cider vinegar before each meal is all you need to do to lose weight.

There is hardly a weight loss/nutrition professional that will agree that it would be helpful to use vinegar for a diet aid. There have been no scientific studies on any of the claims made by vinegar proponents. Some supplement companies have jumped on the bandwagon and started producing vinegar in a pill so that you can get your vinegar without having to drink it.

If you are considering vinegar for a diet aid you may want to do a little more research. Some claim that the acidity of the vinegar can leave you with some problems. I would suggest that you consider a proven supplement such as CLA or Hoodia before trying vinegar. I can understand the desire of using vinegar for a diet aid because of the low cost - But I would certainly put a lot of thought and research into it.

There are many other health claims of vinegar that may or may not be true but they are beyond the scope of this article. Some of them look very interesting.

Wishing you the best of health,

Bill
