Holiday weight loss tips

A recent birthday dinner during which I over indulged was the inspiration for this weight loss article. What are some things I could have done to avoid over eating?

We all have many functions that we attend during the year – but to keep it simple, I will call this article Holiday weight loss tips.

Holidays, birthdays, anniversaries, and festivals are all a time to come together, celebrate, and eat. Here are some holiday weight loss tips that will allow you to enjoy the festivities without packing on those holiday pounds. If you stumbled upon this page during a time when there are no holidays – please think of these as general weight reduction and diet tips to be applied at any time during the year.

Bring your own dish. Prepare one of your favorite diet dishes and bring it with you to the party. Then you know there will be at least one diet friendly dish at the party. Call your host ahead of time if you are not real comfortable doing this. They will more than likely be supportive of you trying to stay on track with your healthy eating.

Don’t arrive hungry. Eat something healthy before leaving for the party. You will be satisfied and will avoid overeating because of extreme hunger. Most people sabotage their diet (just as I did during the birthday dinner mentioned above) because they get too hungry and then eat very quickly and in large portions. Arriving satisfied will allow you to be more mindful of your diet choices.

Avoid alcoholic drinks. Alcohol can lower your inhibitions about food. Alcoholic drinks are also full of empty calories. By avoiding alcohol during a holiday party you will ensure that you keep your mindset on your weight loss goal.

Avoid the punch unless you know what is in it. Some punch recipes can be loaded with extra sugar and calories. Just because it is fruit based does not mean it is diet friendly. Any good list of weight reduction and diet tips will tell you to indulge in water. Water is a healthy drink that helps you feel better and avoid overeating.

Enjoy the vegetable tray. Usually every party has a raw vegetable tray. Avoid the dip but enjoy as many of the vegetables as you would like. They will curb your hunger, increase your health, and not leave you feeling yucky after indulging.

Observe others and learn. Watch for people that overeat and then observe how their energy dissipates after the meal. Listen for complaints and watch them rub their stomach to try and make it feel better. Some may even sit down on the sofa and doze off. Your new way of life should leave you with abundant energy.

I hope you enjoyed these few holiday weight loss tips. Please browse the rest of our site for many more weight reduction and diet tips. Feel free to send in any holiday diet tips you have – our readers would love to hear from you!
