Fitness and weight loss programs
It seems everyone is
selling the best fitness and weight loss programs.
How are
you to decide which is the best fitness-weight loss program
for yourself? Here are some simple tips to help you find
what is best suited for you and what you are most likely to
stick with.
The first thing to think
about when you are shopping for a fitness and weight loss
program is that you will need to participate in it for the
rest of your life. Despite what is sold on infomercials –
permanent weight loss success will not come in 30 days or
less. Your lifestyle must permanently change. My goal for
this article is to help you think of the fitness part of
your weight loss program as enjoyable.
Now that we have
determined that a fitness and weight loss program is a
permanent thing – how can you be assured that you will
always participate? The answer is simple. Find a form of
exercise that you enjoy and you can perform year round.
Better yet – find 4 or 5 different exercises that you enjoy.
This sounds overly simplistic but it is very powerful. You
will do what you enjoy! Now…don’t say that you
don’t enjoy exercise and quit reading - because there are so
many options available today that we can surely find
something you enjoy.
Here are some ideas to
help you find a fitness weight loss program:
Join a sports team
– Do you like volleyball, softball, water polo? Chances are
your town has many teams and leagues that you can join to
get exercise. Don’t even think for a moment you will be the
only one there that needs to lose weight! You will meet like
minded people and develop friendships along the way.
Find a solo sport
– Take lessons in something you have always dreamed about.
Boxing, martial arts, skating, cross country skiing,
swimming, biking, hiking, or rowing. Look in the yellow
pages or the classified section of your newspaper.
Join a fitness
facility – Ask your fitness
facility what specific classes they offer. You may find
yoga, aerobics, kickboxing, spinning, step classes, or even
boot camp. Again – don’t expect everyone there to be some
fitness champ – chances are you will meet others who need to
lose weight and you will make some friends as well.
Start a club
– Start a walking club, hiking club, mountain biking club,
running club, or any other active club you can think of.
Invite others who are looking for fitness and weight loss
programs. Advertise in your local free advertising and start
the club. What a great way to have fun and create
accountability!
These are some ideas to
get you started in your hunt for fitness and weight loss
programs. Fitness can be fun!
I wish for you the best
of health.
