Far infrared sauna and weight loss

Do far infrared sauna and weight loss go hand in hand?

There are some undeniable health benefits from using a far infrared sauna that include improved circulation, cleansing (by sweating), energy enhancement, and arthritis pain relief - But can using a far infrared sauna help you lose weight?

Manufacturers of far infrared saunas claim that using a far infrared sauna is the only way to burn calories without exercise. In fact, a single session in a far infrared sauna consisting of 20-40 minutes has been said to burn 200-500 calories! You would need to run several miles to burn this amount of calories. The logic behind this is that in order for you to produce one gram of sweat, 0.568 Kcal is required. Most sauna users will easily produce 500 grams of sweat during a sauna session. This equates to 300 Kcal.

I have not found a far infrared sauna manufacturer yet that claims far infrared is your magic key to weight loss. But they all agree that it can be a valuable tool in your weight loss arsenal. Immediate weight loss will come from sweating but should be replaced by drinking pure water. It is never good to dehydrate yourself.

Of course you need to check with your doctor before using a sauna.

Far infrared sauna and weight loss is not that far of a stretch. Consider adding a far infrared sauna to your exercise and healthy eating routine.

I wish for you the best of health!
