Before and After
Weight loss and fitness humor
Recently, while browsing
one of my favorite fitness magazines, I could not help but
notice some of the ads.
Here I am - looking for a new grueling
exercise routine, and I keep running across these product ads
with before and after photos.
One particular product
will not only make me much more muscular – it will give me a
tan and cause all excess body hair to disappear – all this
in only six weeks! Another product turned a new mother into
a swimsuit model in only 8 weeks – plus her hair grew about
10 inches and became magnificently styled.
There must be a catch –
Yep – there it is – "Results not typical".
Let me think about it
some more – what if I only get half the results? I will have
a 3 pack instead of a 6 pack, still be able to bench press
half a Buick, and I will only be slightly tanned – I will
still be much better off than I am now. Perhaps I should
order this magic weight loss/fitness elixir. I am pretty
average – I mean if I take an aspirin it behaves in my body
just like it does in millions of other people's body – so
why would this weight loss miracle be any different? I
should see results if others are seeing results.
Maybe there is another
catch – Oops – there it is – "As part of a healthy diet and
exercise routine". Whoa! What is that? Size 2 font? Exercise
and diet?! How absurd!
It turns out that my
super secret weight loss and fitness elixir is not so great
after all – I still have to work hard and eat healthy – Oh
well, back to looking for a new exercise routine.
Commentary: Weight loss
supplements are a great way to supplement your
efforts – but don't be duped into thinking they are magic.
Wishing you the best of
health,
Bill
