Pyruvate and weight loss

Pyruvate has been on the market for a while as a weight loss dietary supplement.
Perhaps you have come across Pyruvate and are wondering what it is and whether or not it can help you lose weight.

Pyruvate occurs naturally in your body as the result of sugar and starch digestion. It is also present in foods such as dark beer, wine, red apples, and cheese.

Pyruvate as a weight loss dietary supplement is made from pyruvic acid and is stabilized with calcium.

I found reference to a study which shows some impressive weight loss results. The study showed that women taking 30 grams of Pyruvate per day lost 37% more fat and 48% more weight than women on an identical diet not taking Pyruvate. Furthermore, the women who had taken the Pyruvate gained back 55% less weight than the women not taking the supplement.

30 grams per day is a lot of Pyruvate and should not be consumed without consulting your physician. I found a reference to a study that said "positive results" were shown on studies using 5-6 grams per day but could not find either of the above mentioned studies in print – only references to them. Some of the better known fitness gurus are recommending 1 gram of Pyruvate for every 10 pounds of bodyweight while other gurus are saying that 5-6 grams are sufficient.

Besides weight loss, users report more energy, improved exercise performance, lower blood pressure, and less fatigue from using Pyruvate. Pyruvate can be purchased in capsule, table, liquid, or powder. I have seen a bit of variation in pricing – As always, I believe you can save considerable money by purchasing online.

What about side effects of Pyruvate? It seems that upset stomach has been reported by some people – That is the only reference to a side effect that I was able to find. If you are planning on taking large dosages – I would recommend that you start with a smaller dose and work your way up to your target.

Remember that weight loss dietary supplements should only be used to “supplement” your healthy eating and exercise lifestyle. Here is a brand of Pyruvate we recommend: NSI Calcium Pyruvate -- 750 mg - 240 Capsules

Wishing you the best of health,

Bill
