Portion control weight loss tips
All things in
moderation. Some people believe that you can achieve optimal
health and ideal weight by simply following portion control.
Portion control
is a great idea either way. Our society has increased
portion sizes to the point they are out of control.
If you couple the
portion size problem with our nutritionally void, over
processed modern food – you get obesity.
Here are some tips to
help you practice portion control.
According to the
American Dietetic Association you can use the following to
help you find ideal portions:
One serving of meat
poultry of fish is about the size of a deck of playing
cards.
Fruit, pasta,
vegetables, or rice can be served appropriately by thinking
of a half a baseball.
Perhaps you could try
the perfect portion plate system to help train you in
portion control. This neat device gives you compartments to
fill with individual foods so that your meal is ideally
portioned out for optimal portion sizes. You can find it on
Amazon.com – click here.
Portion control is all
about retraining your self to not overeat. Chew slowly and
eat mindfully. Give your self time to get the “full” signal
from your brain. Remember to pay attention to what the label
says is a portion. Another tip is to use a 9 inch dinner
plate and divide it in thirds. The first third is for your
protein and the remaining two thirds are for vegetables.
Portion control may not
be the complete answer to your weight problems but it will
still help you move toward your goal. By practicing portion
control you will feel better, lose weight, and improve your
health.
I wish for you the best
of health!
