Because of recent interest from people wanting to know if hypnosis works for weight loss,

I decided to research and review hypnosis for weight loss

Quite honestly I have to admit that the material I found was not sufficient for me to write any type of expert article on weight loss and hypnosis. What I found was a mixture of recordings and scripts that made some extraordinary claims. This does not mean that scientific studies do not exist…it merely means that I could not find them and the majority of "hypnosis for weight loss" information is merely sales spin.

So let me share with you my hypnosis experiences and opinions and you make up your mind as to whether or not hypnosis can help you achieve your weight loss goals.

Some years ago I took a very serious interest in hypnosis for change and athletic/life improvement. I read as many books as I could get my hands on and spent most of my nights attempting self hypnosis. We did not have a hypnotist in our area so it was up to me to learn on my own. Finally during one of my travels I made an appointment to see a hypnotherapist.

I entered his office and he enquired why I was there. I really did not know what to say so I just responded that I would like to be hypnotized and programmed to learn self hypnosis. During the session I analyzed everything he said and every feeling I had. My opinion is that analytical people are difficult to hypnotize but I have no proof of that. I enjoyed these sessions and feel like they had a positive impact on my life – but I say that with a disclaimer: I was working very hard on behavior modification during my "normal" life.

My opinion:

Hypnosis for weight loss could be a useful tool in your behavior modification arsenal

Hypnosis alone is probably not going to be your ticket to a healthy, slim, lifestyle.

What to look for if you are going to give it a try:

Look for the credentials of the therapist you will be working with

Look for a therapist that sells a long term behavior modification approach to weight loss rather than a one time quick fix.

If you are going to purchase a hypnosis for weight loss recording:

Again, look for a long term behavior modification approach

Avoid anyone selling quick fixes

Look for a money back guarantee.

Whether you choose hypnosis as a tool to lose weight or not – try to change your long term behaviors so that they support a healthy, active lifestyle.
